Thoughts:
Suffers from years of parodies and being a pop culture reference. Well made and Tom Hanks is very good, holding the film together. The ending works pretty well too, which is good because its a little bit too long getting there.

Get Out

Thoughts:
Its entertaining and well made. Despite the hype, it was fairly predictable and whilst it had some good scares along the way, as well as some good touches of humour here and there, overall it's a fairly average horror movie.
Great performance from Daniel Kaluuya.

Cloverfield
Watched: Streamed on Netflix

Thoughts:
Cloverfield is a film I have long been interested in seeing, however, I knew it was filmed in shaky-cam and the thought of sitting through 80 minutes of shake was too much. It’s not a bad little monster film. Directed by Matt Reeves, it reminds me of why I really hope we get a serious Batman film directed by him starring Ben Affleck. The monster was interesting, the plot moved along pretty well, and the 80 minute run time was a good length for this type of film. The shaky cam was tough though. I had to look away a lot, which being that I watched it on Netflix really helped and I was able to distract myself enough to not get too sick. I would not have been able to watch this movie in a cinema.

The Cloverfield Paradox
Watched: Streamed on Netflix

Thoughts:
Much easier to handle for those of us with severe motion sickness issues. The film borrows from a lot of other sci-fi/horror movies, such as Alien and Event Horizon (A lot at times from Event Horizon). Like 10 Cloverfield Lane, it's basically a film that was made as a standalone film, and then has some Cloverfield aspects added to it, mainly at the end.
It's okay, worth a look on a streaming service. Wouldn't be worth the trip to the cinema. It asks a few interesting questions, but ultimately, falls short on either answering them, or leaving you thinking about them beyond the end of the credits.
