"An call back to classic movie making, with a few modern touches thrown in, including some poor CGI".
Thoughts:
Like the recent Sherlock Homes films, this film brings a character from the past and tries to update the character, whilst retaining the time period of the orginal.
Overall, I enjoyed this film, mostly through the performance of Kenneth Branagh.
The CGI was ordinary in parts, but I didn't find that important. The story was solid, if not always logical. The rest of the cast was generally good, although I found Michelle Pfeiffer a little grating and I'm a little tired of Jonny Depp. However, Depp was solid in a small role.
If a sequel comes about, as set up at the end, I would be quite happy to see further adventures.
